Like so many other churches that have expanded their mission, Nativity Episcopal Church in Burnsville, Minnesota hired Cardo to understand how it can better use its property to build multi-family housing that addresses community needs, benefits from Church programming, and results in improved financial sustainability. Cardo created numerous alternative site plans, utilizing a range of housing types for families and seniors, that center around outdoor amenities and community spaces. While in a suburban context, the alternatives create a human-scaled experience designed to foster community. Cardo helped the Church work through next steps and provided direction on a master developer RFP.

The Church has progressed to the next phase of the project, beginning the developer procurement process and architectural design for the site. Cardo continues to work with the Church, providing support and guidance as they embark on this exciting opportunity.
